This new presentation brought together a series of artworks created especially for the occasion. The title refers to the ancient Roman spring festival in honour of the goddess Flora, symbol of fertility, beauty, abundance and happiness. These themes form the core of the exhibition: a celebration of life, renewal and new seasons.

The exhibition was exuberant in tone, yet layered in meaning. In a vibrant explosion of colour and textiles, Régis worked with natural materials, flowers and fabrics that conveyed both vulnerability and strength. In this series we see less social critique and more surrender to wonder. Yet the tension between lightness and depth remains present. The flowers are never merely decorative; they are also memories, signs of growth, loss and transformation.

According to a reviewer, the exhibition evoked the visual language of the Baroque, with echoes of Brazilian carnival and colonial history. Floralia invited visitors to pause and let the beauty of colour, form and material speak for itself.

[vc_btn title=”Read the review by Kees Hordijk” style=”classic” color=”white” align=”left” i_align=”right” i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-solid fa-arrow-right” css=”” add_icon=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.wgkunst.nl%2Fkees-hordijk-over-floralia%2F|title:Read%20the%20review|” el_class=”read-more”]

[vc_single_image image=”772″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_shadow” css=””]

[vc_single_image image=”262″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_shadow” css=””]

[vc_single_image image=”263″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_shadow” css=””]

[vc_single_image image=”264″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_shadow” css=””]

[vc_single_image image=”265″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_shadow” css=””]

[vc_btn title=”Back to overview” style=”classic” color=”white” align=”left” i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-solid fa-arrow-left” css=”” add_icon=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fregisgoncalves.com%2Fen%2Fexhibitions%2F|title:Back%20to%20exhibitions|” el_class=”go-back”]

[vc_custom_heading text="Exhibition" font_container="tag:h4|text_align:left" use_theme_fonts="yes" css=""][vc_custom_heading text="Floralia (2025)" use_theme_fonts="yes" css=""]From 25 to 27 April 2025, Régis Gonçalves returned to WG Kunst with the exhibition Floralia, seven years after his last solo presentation at this venue.
